Trained as a professional journalist in Chicago at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, I have 30 years' experience writing and editing for print and online. My past employers and clients include the Chicago Tribune, MSN News, Microsoft, Chicago magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain's Chicago Business, Baird & Warner Real Estate, plus many familiar businesses and nonprofit organizations.
While working in journalism, I also taught it at Columbia College Chicago for seven years, and advised the student magazine, Echo.
Since 2007 I have lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan where I now work as a branded content writer for newspaper companies. I specialize in healthcare, senior living, higher education, and consumer products. Clients I have written for include: Rush University, Jewel, Menard's, BMW Driving School, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Cox, Mattress Firm, Atrium Health, UNICEF and more.
I also have an active volunteer career in three very different areas: theater, therapy dogs and democracy politics. I currently serve on the board of Therapaws of Michigan, a therapy dog organization. I am a past board member and current crew member of our neighborhood theater group, The Burns Park Players.
Since 2017, I have been volunteering in community engagement for Voters Not Politicians, a pro-democracy organization that helped end gerrymandering in Michigan in 2018. We are now fighting voter suppression. My role encompasses everything from direct voter contact to presenting at public webinars to database work for the organization.
Outside of work, travel is my personal passion, and I've visited five of the seven continents. It is my goal to continue to explore the world post-pandemic.
